I recorded all of these improvisations live on stream between the 2nd of January and the 1st of May 2021.

After taking time off in the latter part of last year due to my repetitive strain injury flaring up to record Vol. 5b and spend some time not playing the guitar, I wanted to build a performance setup that was more sustainable and with more timbral variance. These recordings were the result of that attempt. There is less guitar, there is more synthesiser, clarinet, melodica, voice, percussion and live-electronics, and by the end of February I was finally able to do stereo recordings.

This is also the last album I'll be making in this format. The long process of recording 30 hours of music and cutting it down by half (requiring me to listen to absolutely everything, make edits, take notes) is *long* and I'm less and less happy with that process. At this point, I'm caught up with the streams I've done, and I'm happy to just let any new streams be more ephemeral while I work on other smaller projects.

Honestly the recording processes for volumes 5b and 5c was way more fun. So my new approach is: Oops! All 'b' volumes.

It's gonna be different, but it's still going to be me.

I have some other formats in the works, and some collaborations too, but I'll keep quiet about them for now.
